The first time I met Mila she came to the studio and played me a a little ditty she was working on, It was good..
I mean…..It was real good :)
I’ve been thinking lately ( not always a good thing lol :)
Why do you write ? Really ..
What are you chasing ?
besides all the I want to be a Grammy / Ivor novello winning writer bollocks we all hear so often.
I hear a lot of songs from other writers , most are superb, but more and more I feel that I hear songs that are simply trying too hard for a cut.
If this is why you’re writing, then where is the artistry ???
Surely the artistry is what should come first ? ….your feelings down on paper ?
your life experiences in song …
Not just chasing a brief , Or sitting with a colleague in a room trying to fit words that may connect with somebody else without having any real connection to them yourselves ??
or for that matter a production sound too!
I feel that “maybe ” a lot of writers today are just trying to “fit in” Instead of truly searching themselves and knowing themselves through music.
Yes I understand to this doesn’t pay the bills, cuts are important be it from Japan or Outer Mongolia! ( before we go down that line :) I hear ya , & do jobs that require just that .
But do we really have to sell our artistry along with that souls ?
Possibly , just possibly , If we didn’t…
it might make the quality of work released a whole lot better ?

Id had a slightly stressful day , for instance…
Kids up and ready for school , Worked hard at the gym ( Healthy box ticked :) sieving through my daily 40 or so emails.. which can take eons when people respond instantly.. ( how inconsiderate lol ) then its time to hit the studio.
As ever , I start one thing ( equally as important to me as the last ) and an email ” dings ” in asking me to postpone the thing i had to postpone the other day, because this thing was more urgent.. ( stress levels rising )
Then the briefs from labels come in.. and im trawling through my catalogue trying to find something that inevitably wont suit , as ” the Cowbell wasn’t loud enough ” or some other daft reason . Hey ho… such is life.
then its back onto the thing before the last thing interrupted my thing. … errr. i think.
now my body is aching from the gym and the coffee Isn’t working anymore… is that the time already ?? pick the kids up from school , Cook Dinner for my lovely wife who is due home soon - eat - back in the studio..
Now one of my artists need something for an important show tmr.. no probs.. couple of takes , its done. but I still haven’t got to that ” thing” I went in for that morning..
In fact.. I forgotten what it was.. F*ck it..
Glass of wine, Kiss my babies and get them into beddy byes.. Now where was i ??

As I lay in the Hottub looking up, the stars looked back and said.. are you serious ??

LOVE IS EVERYTHING… and so I cuddled next to my “snoring” wife ( Im in trouble for saying that , but last night she sounded like a boeing 747 lol ) and slept soundly, knowing that I am blessed beyond my wildest dreams.
well as soundly as i could !! LOL
( Although possibly controversial lol .. but still funny ), Made me think of the countless times I have been involved with “up and coming ” artists and their issues..
This “business”of Music draws in the mentally crippled and needy like a moth to flame .. Harsh ? Yes, true.. Definitely ! Music is a way for us emotional wrecks to feel safe and express our inner-most feelings without directly saying them.
Ive had a couple of issues with artists in the past, Its in-evitable , Be it them “blocking” song placements, Their Managements not seeing the “wood for the trees” and some that are simply delusional. Most have ( in time ) come around, and became more reasonable, Some are still smashing their own heads up against a brick wall !
We can ALL get it wrong sometimes, and when i do , I try and do my upmost to rectify any mis-undertanding that may have occurred. ..
Some of these artists are still plodding on, and im proud to have been involved in many, But what strikes me the most is how many seem to destroy every opportunity for themselves. Ill never know why.. Perhaps ” Making It” would be too scary for them in reality. .. I dunno ?
But what I do know is that success in its many forms is more attributed to the type of person you are, you have to be a people person. Truly “Likeable” as any falseness eventually shines through.
SO whether its religion some hide behind, drink, Drugs, fake smiles or passive agressive behaviour….
Be yourself.. and if your a Twat

Festival season brought Mila back to Wychwood this year,
With a rousing set starting with “Marching Style” Drummer girls that certainly grabbed the attention of the festival goers, It was no time before the “Cool Kids” Teenagers and a few strange hippy folk found themselves hitting the barriers like sardines for a peek at this exciting new Pop Sensation !
Not one, but TWO encores were called for and Mila Falls ( and the awesome band ) did not dissapoint !
Leaving them wanting more Mila informed her fans of her future plans to bring a Pop extravganza show to london and the rest of the UK soon, featuring many wierd and wonderful curiosities appearing throughout the show..

That song became ‘GLAM TRAMP” Quite simply Unlike any song Id heard before, An “Ode” to a cross dressing Tranny she met whilst living in Brighton,the song Hits you straight away with its infectious anthemic chorus and dirty beat..
I was loving this.. she couldn’t do it again could she ?
I was wrong.. :) Enter “RAYDEEYO” - A simple infectious un-ashamedly happy Pop Song with an underlying, Heartfelt lyric of a Love Lost.. Almost reminiscent of Robyn, this 4 on the floor will have you singing along by the first chorus..
The Very first line sums up where this catchy little numbers going” He’s a boy , Its not his fault ! ” its Ok.. ” !
the list is long, and Strong..I could carry on , Heartbreaking ballad “Empire of Dirt” Quirky UK ”Blow”, The All out sing along pop chorus of “GO ! “
Truth is Mila Falls does not follow the latest Bullshit Overhyped sound, And chooses to rely on great pop songs with great melodies , Theres no secret ,
The army is growing..and I know your gonna love it.. I do !

Back on the road and in company of new film guy gregg ( Great bloke - LOTS of cameras and electronic stuff n things :) We eventually arrived at the venue ( below )

Once again armed with cameras and video we hit the streets - this time old mank’ seemed a little quieter than liverpool and bit more “grumpy” - :)
But soon we came across a group of youngsters which we decided to play a concert to !! they were SSOooooo cool too - singin along ( and it was the first time they heard the tunes ! ) by the second chorus - totally ripping up the quiet streets of manchester city centre !! good times ! :) ( Footage to come )

The next part was probably the funnist aprt of the night as we decided to break out on the closed motorway and do another gig for the stuck traffic. !! :)
On went the headlights of the Scania 20 ton truck ( the stage was lit !!! :) And out cam the people in droves from their stationary cars - whipping out their camera phones

And on we went - crwod were fantastic for 3am or anytime - shouting and clappin along like some kinda demented street party !
YUP - back in car 30 min later to a very happy crowd - ( footage to come )

Incredible venue Liverpool empire.. Alot of history and it has a great feel to the place.. Sound is wicked too - perfect for Rock & Pop concerts !
Mila and I arrived quite early to get a feel for the place, the catering was awesome so we had our fair share of that baby !!! nom nom nom !!! :)
With a filled belly & Soundcheck over, we hit the streets of Liverpool to drum up a few more for the Mila Falls army ! An impromptu acoustic gig in a park gave us a large crowd and we even had them marching behind us !! ( Wait for the film footage :)
Then it was back the Empire for the gig -
Smashed that..:) Crowd were great Mila sang her Lil’ Pink socks off, Paparazzi were on form leaving the building as she signed autographs and had pictures with her new fans
